Project Engineer HVAC

Job description

Are you ready to complete the full cycle of specifying, designing, support the building and commissioning for a new Protix factory as our new Project Engineer with a focus on HVAC systems

Engineering team

The goal is to roll-out several production facilities worldwide in the coming years. The engineering team is responsible for managing the technical aspects of large scale projects, such as designing and developing factory layouts. These responsibilities cover all phases of development, from brainstorming and evaluating concepts through troubleshooting and support on the factory floor. The engineering team is responsible for developing new factories and work in multidisciplinary projects. We are currently looking for a Project Engineer for large scale projects with a focus on the HVAC systems for our process. This is, however, not the only field in which you will be working, as we are with a small team and do extensive projects.

The position

You enjoy creating factory designs for new plants and develop new concepts for something you have probably never done before: breeding insects. In this process you are technically responsible for your part of the project in the building, installation and commissioning phase of the factory. However, as Protix is breeding insects, we have a very different approach to developing HVAC systems. It is far more complex, and therefore ideally fit if you're a pioneer and looking for something more challenging.

You manage the proper functioning of the many interfacing sub-systems, identify the system requirements including the system boundaries and interfaces. You support design teams both internally and externally. During installation, integration, testing and commissioning of the sub-systems you are guiding the sub-contractors and supporting the operational team.

Together with the Project Leader you ensure design intent and cost effectiveness. You are cost sensitive by nature.

Furthermore, you generate appropriate technical documentation (e.g. manuals, drawings, diagrams, calculations) and specifications.

You make a difference by specifying, designing, support the building and commissioning of the complete cycle within your project.

Working within Protix is an excellent opportunity to excel both personally and professionally in a fast-paced entrepreneurial and sustainable environment. You'll work closely with the engineering team and many other teams within Protix like R&D, operations and supply chain.

  • A bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination

  • The Mollier diagram doesn't hold any secrets for you
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written) English and preferably Dutch
  • Living in The Netherlands (or European Union)

Skills and competencies

  • Results-driven, you keep the bigger picture in mind and are driven by achieving your goals
  • You work best in multidisciplinary teams, but can also work independently on projects
  • You communicate your (new) ideas easily
  • You enjoy writing technical documentation, such as specification documents
  • Connecting and communicating with different stakeholders
  • You are proactive, see new opportunities and dare to challenge yourself and the team

About us

We are leading the development of the new insect protein industry. We take organic byproducts or waste as feedstock and convert that into high value protein using the Black Soldier Fly. We use the most advanced technology and produce according to the highest standards for both feed and food, improving the health of animals and humans alike while preserving the planet. As our new plant in The Netherlands will be completed soon, we decided to accelerate the next phase of our industry roadmap and build more production facilities.
